Armed man arrested at Trump’s LA golf course ahead of president’s visit

What the report says
A man was arrested at Donald Trump’s Los Angeles-area golf club in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, days before the president was due to visit, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Al Jazeera reported that deputies took Jeanine John Taele, 38, into custody on Sunday after he was seen photographing and filming the grounds and appearing to watch security preparations ahead of Trump’s scheduled attendance at a Republican fundraising dinner on Tuesday.
Authorities said they found a loaded handgun, hollow-point ammunition and a magazine on Taele, and later recovered a loaded pistol from his vehicle at the club. Police also said a search of his Downey home on Monday turned up an illegally modified rifle, another pistol, body armour, high-capacity magazines, ammunition and other devices, along with notebooks containing what officials called concerning statements.
The sheriff’s department said it had not identified a credible threat to the public. Taele was being held without bail while prosecutors considered possible charges. According to the report, he had already been under investigation in a separate robbery case by El Segundo police.
The arrest drew attention because it came just before a presidential visit tied to Trump’s broader campaign swing through California and Nevada ahead of the November midterm elections. The article does not indicate that any attack took place, only that law enforcement acted before the scheduled event.
