Almost 400 Ukrainian drones attack Moscow and Moscow region - Meduza
What the report says
Meduza reported that Moscow and the surrounding Moscow region came under a large Ukrainian drone attack beginning on the evening of July 27, with Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin saying more than 390 drones were directed toward the area. According to Sobyanin, most were intercepted at distant approaches to the capital, while 81 were destroyed closer to Moscow.
Moscow region Governor Andrey Vorobyov said one drone hit an apartment building on Zemskaya Street in Chekhov, outside Moscow. Chekhov Mayor Mikhail Sobakin said two apartments were damaged but no injuries were reported. Meduza also cited local officials as saying another downed drone caused a tire fire at the Chekhov Regeneration Plant, and that fires or damage were reported at dacha communities in Vaulovo and Dubna, with no injuries reported there.
The independent Telegram channel Astra, cited by Meduza, reported that a warehouse used by the logistics company 3PL caught fire in Koledino, Podolsk, based on witness images and video. Wildberries said a nearby warehouse was continuing normal operations. Meduza noted that 3PL’s website lists storage and warehouse leasing services and names major retail partners including Auchan, Pyaterochka, Magnit, Lenta, Perekrestok, Familia, Fix Price, and Detsky Mir.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said its air defenses shot down 356 Ukrainian drones overnight on July 28 over Russian regions, occupied Crimea, and the Sea of Azov. Meduza cautioned that the full number of drones launched or targeting Russia and Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory cannot be independently determined from the ministry’s figures, because it reports only intercepted drones. The report follows a series of Ukrainian drone strikes since July 18 on logistics and warehouse sites linked to Wildberries, which Ukrainian authorities have said were targeted because they store drone components.
