Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade returns to Seattle waterfront Saturday - KOMO

KOMO News reported that the Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade was scheduled to return to Seattle’s waterfront on Saturday evening, July 25, for its second year on that route. The parade was set to begin at 7:30 p.m. along the waterfront corridor between Broad Street and Yesler Way, following its move to the scenic waterfront alignment last year.

According to KOMO, this year’s theme is “Light Up the Night,” with illuminated floats, marching bands, cultural performances and established Seafair favorites expected. Planned participants and attractions include dragon dancers, precision drill teams, bands and prancing horses. Reserved seating along the parade route was scheduled to open at 5:30 p.m.

The day’s programming was set to begin earlier at Pier 58 and Pier 62. KOMO reported that a Seafair interactive coloring wall at Pier 58, along with a love notes installation and beer garden at Pier 62, were to open at 1 p.m. Stephanie Anne Johnson was scheduled for a 2 p.m. performance on the Pier 62 Main Stage, followed by DJ Roscoe from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Kaiser Permanente Seafair Torchlight Run was planned for 6 p.m. on the parade route.

The Seattle Department of Transportation advised people to plan ahead because of crowds, temporary reroutes and street closures, KOMO reported. Officials encouraged walking, biking or transit, with options including light rail stations near downtown, the monorail, streetcar, buses, bike routes, the West Seattle Water Taxi and a free Waterfront Shuttle operating with route adjustments through 10 p.m.
