What the report says

The African Development Bank Group plans to present its new “Diaspora Initiative” in Paris on 9 November 2026, according to AllAfrica’s report based on material from the Bank. The event is scheduled for Les Salons Hoche in the 8th arrondissement and is described as a high-level meeting focused on mobilizing diaspora capital for Africa’s prosperity and transformation.

The Bank says the initiative is designed to deepen engagement with African diaspora communities as development partners. It aims to channel not only financial resources, but also skills, professional expertise and networks into areas such as investment, entrepreneurship, knowledge exchange and broader economic transformation. The program is presented as part of the Bank Group’s “Four Cardinal Points” strategic vision and linked to the New African Financial Architecture for Development (NAFAD).

The Paris meeting is expected to include the African Development Bank Group’s president, Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, along with policymakers, investors, entrepreneurs, representatives of African and international institutions, and diaspora leaders. AllAfrica’s source says discussions will center on investment opportunities, institutional partnerships and ways to convert diaspora resources into practical projects with social and economic impact.

The initiative builds on the Brazzaville Appeal adopted at the Bank’s 2026 annual meetings. In broad terms, it reflects a wider push by African institutions to move from commitments to implementation by attracting more private and diaspora-linked capital for development.
