BBC World News reported from Leicester Square that Zendaya and Tom Holland attended the London premiere of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Wednesday evening, drawing large crowds of fans to the white-carpet event. Zendaya, who plays MJ, was asked about working with Holland, her husband and co-star, and said it is easier when the person is also a best friend. Holland returns as Peter Parker and Spider-Man in the new instalment.

The BBC’s Noor Nanji noted that the appearance comes during a busy period for the couple, who recently married and are also appearing in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. Zendaya wore a champagne Tamara Ralph gown with web-like detailing, continuing the “method dressing” approach associated with her film promotion. She told the BBC that fashion lets her extend the storytelling of a project during a press tour, but declined to say whether her outfit contained clues about the film.

Holland, who has played Spider-Man since 2016, described returning to the role as enjoyable and said he welcomed finding new elements in a character he has portrayed for years. He did not confirm whether Brand New Day marks the end of his time as Spider-Man, saying audiences would need to see the film.

According to the BBC, the film follows Peter Parker after the events of No Way Home, when his loved ones no longer remember him. The cast includes Jacob Batalon, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo and Sadie Sink, with Destin Daniel Cretton directing. The BBC said early reviews have been mostly positive, while noting a more mixed response from The Guardian. The film is now in UK cinemas.
