You don’t need to splurge on an expensive handheld fan to beat the heat - theverge.com

What the report says
The Verge’s Andrew Liszewski reports that a low-cost handheld fan from JisuLife became his family’s preferred summer cooling gadget after he bought two Life10 S units at Costco. The review, published July 28, 2026, frames the fan as a practical alternative to pricier personal cooling devices, noting a purchase price of CDN $25 each at Costco and a listed Amazon price of $32.99. The Verge also discloses that Vox Media may earn a commission from purchases made through its links.
According to the review, the JisuLife Life10 S is a basic device with a USB-C charging port, a rear sliding power switch, one front button to cycle through five speeds, and a small LCD readout for battery and speed information. Liszewski says the fan lacks premium features found in some other JisuLife models, such as phone reverse-charging or extensive speed controls, but he found it easy to operate and suitable for outdoor activities including baseball games, concerts and hikes.
The Verge compares the Life10 S with Dyson’s $99.99 HushJet Mini Cool and discusses Shark’s $149.99 ChillPill, which the reviewer says he has not tested. Liszewski reports that Dyson’s fan is stronger at maximum output but louder and higher-pitched, while the JisuLife unit produced a more tolerable sound for extended use. He also says the JisuLife fan’s 5,000mAh battery lasted just over 16 hours at half power, versus Dyson’s advertised six-hour maximum at its lowest setting and roughly an hour in his full-power use.
The review matters for shoppers because it argues that, for everyday heat relief, battery life, comfort and price may be more important than premium branding or extra features.
