According to Watchdog Uganda, the exchange began on September 2, 2026, after Opondo replied to a National Resistance Movement post about newly elected National Women Council flagbearers and tagged Kamukama in a comment suggesting she might be unsettled by the developments.

Kamukama responded by questioning Opondo’s eligibility to represent older persons, saying she believed he was not yet old enough for the seat. Under Uganda’s rules for the Older Persons parliamentary category, candidates must be at least 60 years old. Opondo later defended himself by referring to official documents and implying that the state had already recognized him as being well above that threshold.

The exchange escalated rhetorically, with both politicians using sarcastic language and references to “loading violence,” a phrase commonly used in Ugandan online political speech to signal combative but non-physical pushback. Opondo said he came “in peace” and described himself as an elderly man, while Kamukama insisted she was also “loading violence” on him.
