YES Network, MSG Networks to exit Gotham app for DAZN streaming service - CNBC

CNBC reported that YES Network and MSG Networks are moving their direct-to-consumer streaming offerings from the Gotham Sports app to DAZN, giving local games for several New York and New Jersey teams a new digital home. The affected teams include MLB’s New York Yankees, the NBA’s New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets, and the NHL’s New York Rangers, New York Islanders and New Jersey Devils. MSG also carries the Buffalo Sabres.

According to CNBC, the networks will leave Gotham roughly two years after creating the joint streaming venture. Yankees viewers will be able to complete the current season on Gotham, while the broader migration is scheduled during the 2026-27 NBA and NHL seasons. Customers who already receive YES or MSG through a pay-TV provider will be able to stream the games on DAZN at no additional charge, but DAZN pricing for direct subscriptions to the New York-area teams has not been announced. Gotham plans had started at about $209.99 annually.

The shift reflects wider pressure on regional sports networks as cable cord-cutting reduces the traditional subscriber base. CNBC noted that YES and MSG have not been part of the turmoil surrounding Main Street Sports, whose regional network business collapsed after bankruptcy, but both have faced similar industry challenges. MSG Networks is owned independently by James Dolan, who also owns the Knicks and Rangers, while YES is owned by a group that includes the Yankees.

DAZN, a global sports streamer seeking a larger U.S. presence, has been pursuing sports rights as teams and networks look for alternatives to the shrinking cable model. For local fans, this marks another platform change after YES and MSG launched separate apps in 2023 and combined them into Gotham in 2024.
