Yemen’s Houthis attack Aden airport; Saudi forces down missile near Riyadh

What the report says
Yemen’s internationally recognised government said Houthi forces fired ballistic missiles and drones at Aden International Airport, the main air hub in territory outside Houthi control, according to Al Jazeera and Reuters. The Transport Ministry said at least two missiles and several drones were used in the attack, and that one missile landed near the runway just minutes before a passenger flight from Cairo was expected to arrive. Officials said the incoming flight was diverted to Jeddah, the terminal was evacuated and aircraft were moved off the tarmac.
The government said the strike could have endangered civilian passengers. The Houthis, in a separate statement, said they were targeting what they described as Saudi military supplies near the airport, a claim Al Jazeera reported but did not independently verify. The airport is in Aden, where the Yemeni government has been based since the Houthis took the capital, Sanaa, in 2014.
Separately, Saudi Arabia said its air defenses intercepted and destroyed a Houthi ballistic missile north of Riyadh. The Saudi-led coalition said it was tracking the launch site through intelligence over Sanaa and vowed to destroy it. The report comes amid intensifying fighting in Yemen, including a government counteroffensive in the southwest near Mocha and the Bab al-Mandeb strait, an area with strategic significance for Red Sea shipping and military control.
