Yankees Place Cody Bellinger On IL With Left Hamstring Strain - MLB Trade Rumors

What the report says
MLB Trade Rumors reported that the New York Yankees placed left fielder Cody Bellinger on the 10-day injured list on July 26 with a left hamstring strain. The club recalled outfielder Spencer Jones from Triple-A as the corresponding roster move. Bellinger was hurt in the eighth inning of the previous day’s 3-1 win over the Philadelphia Phillies, after doubling off reliever Jonathan Bowlan and feeling tightness while rounding first base.
According to MLBTR, Bellinger initially stayed in the game but later told manager Aaron Boone he likely would have struggled to score from second base on a hit. Max Schuemann replaced him in left field in the bottom half of the inning. The extent of the injury had not been determined at the time of the report, though Bellinger reportedly minimized the issue afterward.
The injury is significant for a Yankees lineup already missing Aaron Judge, who has been out since June 2 with a right rib stress fracture. MLBTR noted that New York’s offense has declined since Judge’s absence, and Bellinger remains one of the team’s most valuable contributors overall, batting .259/.350/.420 with 11 home runs in 434 plate appearances. The report also highlighted his defensive value in Yankee Stadium’s large left field, including strong marks in Defensive Runs Saved and Statcast measures.
Jones, 25, is expected to cover the roster spot in the short term. MLBTR described him as a hard-contact hitter with significant strikeout issues, citing a .224/.314/.355 line in 86 plate appearances this season. With the trade deadline approaching and Judge not close to returning, the report said the Yankees could consider outfield help, though their previously expected priorities included catcher and bullpen upgrades.
