What the report says

Front Office Sports reports that DAZN will become the exclusive local-market streaming platform for teams carried by the YES Network and MSG Networks, a major expansion of the company’s U.S. sports footprint. The deal covers the New York Yankees, New York Knicks, Brooklyn Nets, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders and Buffalo Sabres, along with around-the-clock feeds of YES and MSG Networks for eligible subscribers.

According to the report, the transition will start with the 2026–27 NBA and NHL seasons, while the exact migration date remains under discussion. The move will end the Gotham Sports app, which YES and MSG launched in 2024 as an unusual local-market bundle combining separate regional sports network streaming services. The change is expected to occur after the current MLB season, avoiding a Yankees streaming switch during the baseball schedule.

Financial terms were not released. Front Office Sports noted that existing linear TV subscribers to YES and MSG are expected to receive DAZN access to the streaming feeds without an added charge, similar to the Gotham app model. The report also cited YES’s streaming growth this year after price cuts in early 2026, as the network and MSG seek a broader digital audience.

The agreement matters because regional sports networks have been under pressure as audiences move away from traditional cable bundles. DAZN’s role in New York-area team streaming also follows its reported acquisition of ViewLift, a streaming technology company, strengthening its position as teams and networks reassess local media distribution.
