What the report says

BGR reviewed XGIMI’s Horizon 20 Max, a premium 4K home projector introduced at IFA 2025 and tested by the outlet over several months. Reviewer José Adorno said the model builds on earlier Horizon devices by addressing prior limitations, including the lack of optical zoom and older Android TV software. The projector is positioned as a high-end alternative to a large television, with a listed price of $2,999, though BGR noted it was selling for $2,599 at the time of publication.

According to BGR, the Horizon 20 Max includes IMAX Enhanced certification, Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Filmmaker Mode, lens shifting, optical zoom, low-latency gaming features, a 240Hz refresh rate and VRR. The outlet reported brightness of 5,700 ISO lumens, up from 3,100 ISO on the previous model, and said it can project an image from 80 inches to 300 inches depending on distance. The projector also includes automatic keystone correction, autofocus, obstacle avoidance and screen alignment tools.

BGR highlighted improved connectivity, including two HDMI ports, one with eARC, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0, optical and audio outputs, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2. The review also noted built-in Harman Kardon speakers, but recommended external speakers or a home theater setup for audio that matches the image quality, especially in smaller rooms.

A major software change is the move to Google TV, which BGR described as smoother and more useful than the Android TV experience on earlier XGIMI models. The review concluded that the Horizon 20 Max is best suited for buyers who want a very large cinematic image and have the space and lighting conditions a projector requires, while a conventional TV may remain more practical for some homes.
