What the report says

GameRant reported that Xbox Game Pass has added The Planet Crafter as a day-one release for Xbox Series X/S, giving subscribers access to the open-world survival-crafting game through their subscription. The article, published July 20, 2026, said the title also launched on PlayStation 5, while the Game Pass availability applies to Xbox players.

According to GameRant, The Planet Crafter places players on a hostile alien planet after a crash landing and centers its progression on exploration, base building, machinery and environmental transformation rather than combat. Players collect materials and use technology to raise oxygen, temperature, water and ecosystem levels, gradually turning a barren world into one that can support life. The article compared its broad appeal to games such as Subnautica, while noting that its setting and no-combat approach distinguish it from many open-world survival games.

GameRant highlighted the game’s existing PC reception as a major reason for interest, citing a 95% “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating on Steam across about 36,000 reviews. The site described that level of approval at such review volume as unusual and said players have praised the relaxing loop, exploration, automation-like systems and base-building focus.

The report also noted that Game Pass titles rotate periodically and advised subscribers not to overlook the new addition. GameRant said the next scheduled removals from the service are set for July 31 and include Celeste, Crusader Kings 3, Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord, Rain World and Sniper Elite: Resistance.
