Wycombe Wanderers have dismissed manager Michael Duff and first-team coach Alex Morris after a winless start to their League One campaign. The decision leaves the Buckinghamshire club looking for a new direction just five league matches into the season, with Wycombe having collected three points from a possible 15 and becoming the first managerial casualty across the top four English divisions this term.

BBC Sport reported that Duff, 48, had been in charge for almost a year after replacing Michael Dodds in September 2025. His exit follows a poor run that began in the spring and has continued into the new season. Although Wycombe have only lost twice in the league, results have not improved enough to prevent the change.

The club said an interim head coach would be appointed later in the day. Wycombe’s statement also pointed to the broader slump since the end of last season. The team did finish in the top half of League One last year after a late recovery, but their only victory in the past 13 matches across all competitions came on the final day of the previous league campaign. Morris, a former Crewe Alexandra manager, had joined the club’s coaching staff in 2025 after a spell at Stoke City. In general, midseason managerial changes are common in English football when clubs believe results have stalled.
