Wrexham complete signing of Palace defender Imray

BBC Sport reports that Wrexham have signed defender Danny Imray from Crystal Palace, making the 23-year-old the club’s first arrival of the summer transfer window. Imray, described as a versatile full-back who can also play as a right wing-back, has agreed a four-year contract with the Championship side.

Manager Phil Parkinson said Wrexham were happy to add Imray, noting his progression from non-league football to a Premier League club and describing him as a young player with promise. BBC Sport says Imray has joined Wrexham’s squad in the United States before a pre-season match against Liverpool in New York on Thursday, with kick-off listed as 00:30 BST.

Imray moved to Crystal Palace from Chelmsford City in 2021 but did not make a senior appearance for Palace. He was loaned back to Chelmsford after the transfer, later played for Bromley in 2024-25, and spent last season on loan at Blackpool and then West Bromwich Albion. He made 17 appearances for West Brom in all competitions, including a 2-2 draw against Wrexham in April.

The signing addresses an area Parkinson had been looking to strengthen after Issa Kabore returned to Manchester City following his loan at the Racecourse Ground. BBC Sport adds that Wrexham are not expected to repeat last summer’s large recruitment drive, but further additions could still come in goal, central defence, midfield and attack as they prepare for the 2026-27 campaign.
