What the report says

Wrexham are close to adding two more players before the summer transfer deadline, with Manchester City right-back Issa Kabore set for a permanent move and Angers left-back Jacques Ekomie also nearing a switch to the Championship club, BBC Sport Football reports. The deals would follow a busy window for Phil Parkinson’s side, who have already brought in three first-team signings and are continuing to reshape the squad at the Racecourse Ground.

Kabore, a Burkina Faso international, spent the 2025-26 season on loan at Wrexham and made 32 appearances in all competitions. He contributed eight assists in the Championship, the highest total in the squad, and had previously gone on multiple loan spells after joining Manchester City in 2020 without making a senior appearance for the Premier League club. BBC Sport says the 25-year-old is now expected to leave City permanently.

Ekomie, a 23-year-old Gabon international, is in the final year of his contract with Angers and would strengthen Wrexham’s options on the left side. BBC Sport notes that he attracted interest from other clubs, including West Ham United and Hamburg, before Wrexham moved ahead.

The report adds that Parkinson had recently described the market as difficult, with some deals collapsing, and said there were no guarantees of further signings before the 1 September deadline. Wrexham may still look to add midfield and attacking cover as they prepare to face Birmingham City next.
