Woman remanded over murder, robbery of colleague in Bukoto

A woman identified by The Observer as Patricia Rose Turindwamukama has been remanded to Luzira Prison in connection with the alleged aggravated robbery and killing of her colleague, Jovia Namuwulya, who worked as a bar waitress. Turindwamukama, described in court as a resident of Bukoto I Parish in Nakawa Division, appeared before City Hall Court senior principal grade one magistrate Nicholas Aisu on Monday.

According to the prosecution case outlined in court, the alleged incident happened during the night of August 20, 2026, in Mukalazi Zone, Bukoto I Parish. Prosecutors say Turindwamukama and another person who has not yet been arrested took Namuwulya’s belongings, including an iPhone 12 Pro Max, a handbag, clothes and a passport, before she was murdered. The charge sheet also refers to a knife as a deadly weapon used in the attack.

State Attorney Mercy Yamangusho told the court that investigations were still ongoing. The magistrate remanded Turindwamukama to Luzira Women’s Prison until September 22, 2026. The report says she was arrested on August 24 in Mbuya, four days after Namuwulya’s death.

The Observer also reported that police were examining whether Turindwamukama applied for an Iraqi visa a day after the alleged killing. Her social media account of events, in which she offered a different explanation of what happened, was mentioned in the article, but prosecutors maintain she was involved in the robbery and murder case.
