Wolves striker Arokodare joins Ajax on loan

BBC Sport Football reports that Wolves forward Tolu Arokodare has moved to Ajax on loan for the 2026-27 campaign, with the Dutch club holding an option to buy him next summer. The switch gives the 25-year-old Nigeria international a fresh start after one season at Molineux, where he struggled to match the scoring form that prompted Wolves to sign him from Genk.

According to the BBC, Arokodare joined Wolves in September 2025 for £24m on a four-year contract, having scored 31 league goals in 79 matches for the Belgian side. His Premier League return was more limited: three goals in 33 league games, while the BBC article says he scored six times in 38 appearances in all competitions as Wolves were relegated to the Championship.

The report also notes recent disciplinary issues around the striker. It says Arokodare was linked to a cancelled Wolves training session after reportedly refusing to leave the pitch, though he denied refusing to train and said on social media that he had always aimed to act professionally and maintain high training standards. The BBC also says he was disciplined in April after a confrontation with fellow forward Mateus Mane.

For Ajax, the move adds an attacking option after a fifth-place Eredivisie finish last season. The club are due to play in the Europa Conference League if they progress through the play-offs, while Wolves continue reshaping their squad following relegation.
