With NCAA rules set to change on Saturday, Notre Dame and Ohio State sign 8-figure jersey sponsorship deals - Yahoo Sports

What the report says
Yahoo Sports reported that Ohio State and Notre Dame announced major jersey sponsorship agreements Tuesday, days before new NCAA rules take effect allowing corporate logos on college uniforms. Ohio State’s agreement with Chase Bank is reportedly worth up to $17 million and will place the bank’s logo on uniforms for all Buckeyes sports beginning in the 2026-27 season.
Notre Dame separately said it had reached a deal with SoFi for a patch on Fighting Irish football jerseys starting next season and continuing beyond it. Yahoo Sports’ Ross Dellenger reported the six-year sponsorship is expected to average $18 million to $20 million annually, which would make it the most valuable jersey patch arrangement yet in college athletics.
The deals follow NCAA action permitting schools to sell more commercial space on uniforms, apparel and equipment beginning Aug. 1, in line with the 2026 football season. Under the rule described by Yahoo, teams may add up to two commercial logos on uniforms and apparel and one on equipment during the preseason and regular season, with another logo allowed for conference championships. Patches are limited to 4 square inches.
Yahoo framed the announcements as part of a broader search for revenue during the NIL era. The article noted that the Big 12 previously announced a reported $20 million arrangement with Monster Energy that includes jersey patches, and said the new market is likely to benefit the largest athletic departments most because brands can pay more for exposure through programs such as Ohio State and Notre Dame.
