Wilson plays court videos allegedly showing Besigye meeting

At the High Court in Kampala, prosecution witness Andrew Wilson presented videos and an audio recording in the case involving veteran opposition politician Dr Kizza Besigye and co-accused Joel Wakayima, Obeid Lutale and Denish Oola. According to Nile Post, Wilson told the court the material showed meetings involving Besigye and Wakayima, including discussions he said related to a memorandum of understanding and alleged counterfeit currency.

The videos, however, appeared to provide only partial visual support for his claims. Nile Post reported that Besigye was mostly out of frame in the clips, while Wilson and Wakayima were more visible. During one segment, prosecutors asked Wilson to identify a person who briefly appeared on screen, and he said it was Besigye. Court officials also struggled with poor audio and technical issues that made much of the recorded conversation difficult to hear.

Wilson additionally displayed several items he said were disguised devices, including a power bank, charger, wristwatches, a flash disk and a necklace-like object. He also told court he had faced online abuse after a photograph of him in court circulated. Besigye was absent from the session, while his co-accused were brought to court in prison vehicles. Justice Baguma adjourned the matter to Tuesday for the hearing to continue.

The case remains closely watched because it involves a prominent opposition figure and allegations touching on national security and economic destabilisation, although those claims are part of the prosecution evidence and have not been established by the reporting itself.
