BBC Sport Football reports that the Premier Sports Cup group stage reaches its final round this weekend, with 15 matches scheduled for Saturday and St Mirren hosting Dunfermline Athletic on Sunday. The eight group winners and the three strongest runners-up will advance to the last 16, where they join Scotland’s European representatives: Celtic, Rangers, Heart of Midlothian, Hibernian and Motherwell.

Aberdeen need only a draw at home to Kelty Hearts to secure Group A, while Queen’s Park could overtake them if Aberdeen slip and the Spiders beat Queen of the South. In Group B, Dundee United have completed their fixtures on nine points, but Montrose can go above them by avoiding defeat against The Spartans; United are still expected to be well placed for a runners-up spot. Group C is a direct contest between St Mirren and Dunfermline, with St Mirren through if they avoid defeat and Dunfermline needing a three-goal win to top the section.

Ross County will win Group D by beating Airdrieonians, though Dundee can still qualify on 10 points with victory over Clyde. Partick Thistle, already on nine points and a strong goal difference in Group E, are likely to advance despite Stenhousemuir and Livingston still being able to pass them. Group F remains tight: St Johnstone must beat East Fife to stay alive, while East Fife or Inverness Caledonian Thistle can seal progress with wins.

Ayr United have already won Group G and can secure seeding with a win over Alloa Athletic. In Group H, Kilmarnock will top the section by beating Peterhead, while Hamilton require a sizeable win over Elgin City and help elsewhere.
