WHO Moves $240,000 Ebola Supplies Through Entebbe to Support DRC Response

What the report says
The World Health Organization has moved emergency Ebola response supplies worth about $240,000 through Entebbe International Airport to support efforts in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, according to Nile Post. The shipment passed through Uganda over the past week and was headed to Bunia in Ituri Province, one of the main areas affected by the outbreak.
The consignment includes treatment tents, personal protective equipment, respirators and disinfection equipment. WHO said the World Food Programme is handling transport from the regional logistics point to frontline responders. The supplies are intended to help health workers isolate and treat patients while reducing the risk of infection in treatment centres and other high-risk settings.
Nile Post said the movement of the cargo highlights Uganda’s role as a regional logistics route for emergency health supplies, especially as the country has recently declared an end to its own Bundibugyo virus outbreak. The article notes that Uganda remains vulnerable to imported cases because transmission continues across the border in DR Congo.
More broadly, the report places the delivery within a wider Ebola emergency in eastern DR Congo, where WHO and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention have urged a stronger response. The article presents the shipment as part of efforts to support surveillance, contact tracing and frontline protection as health services face continued pressure in the outbreak zone.
