White Dwarf 527: The Inside Scoop on Warhammer 40,000 - Warhammer Community

What the report says
Warhammer Community reports that White Dwarf issue 527 will focus heavily on the new edition of Warhammer 40,000, with the monthly magazine setting much of its coverage on the war world of Armageddon. The preview, published 29 Jul 26, says the issue will be available for pre-order from Saturday 8 August.
According to the publisher, the issue expands on the background story around the new edition, covering the period between Armageddon: Return of Yarrick and the beginning of Operation Imperator. The article says the material gives attention to several sides of the conflict, including Imperial defenders, Ork attackers and incoming Imperial forces, with an emphasis on ideas players can use for their own narrative games.
The magazine will also include a 16-page designer commentary on new Warhammer 40,000 miniatures, including Space Marines and Orks releases such as the Land Speeder and Big Mek Dakkarig. Warhammer Studio designers are also featured discussing rules changes in the new edition, including terrain objectives, missions and movement, followed by a battle report pairing Orks against Blood Angels.
Beyond Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Community says issue 527 includes new solo rules for Warhammer Quest: Darkwater set in the Jade Abbey, hobby guidance such as painting guides for Orks and Space Marines, monthly missions for Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar, and the opening instalment of a five-part Skaven fiction series titled Voyage Of The Saltfyre. The preview is significant mainly for Warhammer players and collectors tracking the rollout of the new edition and related hobby support.
