Yahoo Sports reports that attention is already turning to the next men’s World Cup after Spain’s victory over Argentina in the 2026 final. The 2030 tournament is scheduled to begin on June 8, 2030, and will carry added historical significance because it marks 100 years since the first World Cup, which was staged in Uruguay in 1930.

According to the report, Morocco, Portugal and Spain will be the main hosts for the 2030 edition, while Uruguay, Argentina and Paraguay will each stage an opening match as part of FIFA’s centenary plans. The South American venues listed are Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires and Estadio Osvaldo Domínguez Dibb in Asunción. Host cities are also planned across Portugal, Morocco and Spain, including Lisbon, Porto, Casablanca, Rabat, Madrid, Barcelona and several others.

Yahoo Sports says the countries staging matches — Morocco, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Portugal and Spain — will qualify automatically. The opening matches in South America are set for June 8 and 9, followed by the broader opening ceremony and remaining schedule on June 13-14. FIFA has not yet announced the site of the July 21, 2030 final.

For 2034, the report says Saudi Arabia will host after being the only bidder and receiving FIFA approval in December 2024. That tournament is expected to include 48 teams across five cities, though dates have not been set. Yahoo Sports also notes that FIFA has not formally confirmed the 2030 field size, while discussion has included keeping 48 teams or exploring a larger 64-team format.
