Sqoop Uganda reported on a nostalgia-themed entertainment event in Kampala, where thousands of millennials gathered on Saturday at Canary Gardens for the Baileys and Tusker Cider Millennials Picnic. The crowd largely honored a white-and-khaki dress code, and the venue reportedly filled quickly as attendees arrived for an afternoon built around familiar music and shared memories.

According to the publisher, the event leaned heavily into “old school” sounds rather than current dance trends. DJs kept to music associated with earlier years, while MC Kats told revellers that Amapiano was intentionally left out. The article said the atmosphere reflected a broader nostalgia culture that has been growing in Kampala through similar music-led social events.

The picnic also featured live semi-acoustic performances by Ugandan artists Kenneth Mugabi and Naava Grey. Sqoop Uganda said Naava performed well-known songs including Sokalami, Ninga Omuloge and Nteredde, while the strongest audience reaction came during a joint performance of Owuwo. Mugabi also revisited songs from his catalogue, and the crowd sang along throughout the set.
