What the report says

West Indies levelled their five-match T20 series against India 1-1 with a six-wicket win in Ranchi, India, after Shai Hope produced an unbeaten 102 from 45 balls. According to Al Jazeera’s report, the chase of 252 was completed with nine balls remaining and became the highest successful run chase in West Indies T20 history. The match also finished as the second-highest successful chase in men’s T20s overall.

Hope’s innings, which included nine sixes and six fours, was backed by Sherfane Rutherford’s 84 from 37 balls and Romario Shepherd’s late 34 from 13. West Indies recovered after losing early wickets in the powerplay, then built the key stand between Hope and Rutherford that carried the innings through the middle overs. India’s bowlers, including Mayank Yadav and Kuldeep Yadav, took wickets at intervals but could not stop the chase.

Earlier, India posted 249-5, their eighth-highest total in T20 internationals. Sanju Samson top-scored with 82 from 41 balls, while Ishan Kishan made 43, Shreyas Iyer hit 40, and Tilak Varma added an unbeaten 44. The series now moves to Indore for the third T20 on Sunday. The result is notable because totals near 250 are rare in T20 cricket and successful chases of that size are even more unusual.
