What the report says

West Bromwich Albion have completed the signing of midfielder Toby Collyer from Manchester United for an undisclosed fee, according to BBC Sport Football. The 22-year-old has agreed a four-year contract and returns to The Hawthorns after spending the first half of last season on loan at the club.

BBC Sport reported that Collyer made 12 Championship appearances for West Brom before later joining Hull City, where he was part of the squad that won promotion to the Premier League. He also featured 13 times for Manchester United in all competitions during the 2024-25 season and made his competitive debut for the club in a home defeat by Liverpool in September 2024.

The move makes Collyer West Brom’s ninth summer signing. The club has also added players including Jimmy-Jay Morgan and Conor Townsend as it continues to reshape the squad ahead of the new campaign. In comments reported by Albion’s website, Collyer said he was drawn back by the size of the club, his positive loan spell and the chance to work again with manager James Morrison.

The transfer matters because it gives West Brom a familiar midfielder with recent Championship and top-flight experience, while Manchester United lose a young player who had begun to break into their senior squad.
