What the report says

The Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières, or BRVM, has updated its BRVM 30 benchmark following a quarterly review, adding four companies and keeping the index at 30 members. According to the notice reported by Daba Finance and distributed by AllAfrica, the new entrants are Loterie Nationale du Bénin, ONATEL Burkina Faso, Vivo Energy Côte d'Ivoire and Solibra Côte d'Ivoire. They replace NEI-CEDA Côte d'Ivoire, Sucrivoire Côte d'Ivoire, Sonoco Metal Packaging SIEM Côte d'Ivoire and SETAO Côte d'Ivoire.

The exchange said the review is intended to ensure that index constituents continue to meet eligibility rules and to improve the benchmark’s reflection of market liquidity. The article noted that the BRVM did not release company-by-company reasons for the changes or the underlying liquidity figures, so the reshuffle should not be treated as a direct assessment of the departing firms’ financial performance. The notice was dated October 1, and the public article was published on October 4, 2026.

The revised index includes businesses from several sectors across the West African regional market, including banking, telecommunications, energy, beverages and lotteries. The BRVM serves the eight countries of the West African Economic and Monetary Union from Abidjan, making its indices regional rather than country-specific. In general, index changes can matter to investors and fund managers who track the benchmark, since inclusion or removal may affect visibility and portfolio adjustments.
