What the report says

West Africa’s BRVM stock market continued its 2026 upward run in the week ended September 4, according to Daba Finance via AllAfrica. The exchange’s Composite Index rose 3.50% to 548.60 points, while the BRVM 30 and Prestige Index also advanced. The Principal Index posted the strongest benchmark gain, reflecting broad buying across the market.

The report says trading activity picked up during the week. Share volume increased and the value of transactions climbed sharply from the previous week, while equity market capitalization reached XOF 21.15 trillion. Market gains were widespread: more stocks rose than fell, with notable increases in names including BIIC Benin, Africa Global Logistics Côte d’Ivoire and Coris Bank International Burkina Faso. Coris Bank’s share move followed its reported improvement in net banking income and net profit.

Sonatel Senegal remained the most actively traded stock, showing that liquidity was still concentrated in a few large names. At the same time, some recent winners pulled back, including Bernabé Côte d’Ivoire, Palm Côte d’Ivoire and Tractafric Motors Côte d’Ivoire. The bond market moved differently from equities, with capitalization declining and turnover centered on government issues from Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and Benin. The broader context is that the BRVM has seen a strong rise this year, which may prompt investors to watch whether earnings growth can support higher valuations.
