Warren Spector’s Thick As Thieves Ends Support After Two Months - Kotaku

What the report says
Kotaku reports that Thick As Thieves, the co-op stealth game from Warren Spector’s OtherSide Entertainment, will receive no further content updates roughly two months after launch. The game, published by Megabit, debuted in late May 2026 and was positioned as a smaller-scale successor in spirit to Spector’s earlier immersive sim work, including Thief and System Shock.
According to Kotaku, game director Jeff Hickman told players in an update that OtherSide had lost most of its staff and now has only a small team remaining. He said continued work on new content, modes and systems is no longer feasible. Kotaku also cites earlier reporting from PC Gamer that layoffs after launch reduced the studio to fewer than 10 employees.
The article says the remaining developers and Megabit are looking for ways to preserve online access, including a possible move to peer-to-peer fan servers if official servers are shut down. Solo play is expected to remain available, though Kotaku notes the game was not primarily designed around that mode.
Kotaku frames the shutdown as part of a broader struggle for online and live-service games, where player numbers can quickly determine whether ongoing support is sustainable. While Thick As Thieves had a lower price and a more modest scope than many multiplayer releases, the report suggests it did not build the audience OtherSide needed to keep development going.
