Wakiso LCV Chairperson Directs Contractors to Fast-Track Market Projects.

What the report says
Wakiso District Local Government reported that District Chairperson Eng. Ian Kyeyune has urged contractors working on Wakiso Central Market and Kawuku Daily Market to speed up construction and resolve outstanding issues so the projects can be finished on time. The directive was issued during a routine monitoring visit on Wednesday, October 1, 2026, across government facilities and projects in the district.
According to the district, Kyeyune was joined by the Secretary for Works, Production and Technical Services, Hon. Mubiru Moses Balwana, and engineering কর্মকর্তাস from the district. He said the two market projects are part of a broader presidential programme that also includes skilling activities intended to support market users and improve livelihoods. The markets are expected to become important commercial centers for Wakiso District.
At Wakiso Central Market, being built by Techno Three Uganda Ltd, the chairperson praised overall progress but raised concern about debris still remaining at the site. He asked the engineering department to help resolve the problem and requested regular progress reports to keep the project within its 12-month schedule. At Kawuku Daily Market, being constructed by Scaffold Engineering and Construction Ltd, he cited slow progress and pointed to unfinished or weak areas including the toilet facility, driveway, entrance fencing, door-frame protection and firefighting system.
The district also said the project supervisor at Kawuku Daily Market committed to addressing the concerns, while reporting that the vendor relocation site was nearly complete and would allow vendors to move before main works continue. Kyeyune also inspected Wakiso Health Centre IV and flagged staffing, medicine supply, drainage, structural and space challenges for follow-up.
