Volcanoes Appoint Sadick Sempigi as Head Coach for Big League Campaign

What the report says
SC Volcanoes have named experienced Ugandan coach Sadick Sempigi as their new head coach as the Kisoro-based side prepares for its FUFA Big League campaign. The appointment was reported by Nile Post and comes as the club looks to strengthen both its technical bench and wider identity ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Sempigi arrives with a strong promotion background. He has previously led Kigezi HomeBoyz and Mbarara City to the Uganda Premier League, and has also coached in the Big League with Lugazi FC and Jinja North FC. His wider experience includes assistant roles at Arua Hill SC and in the Masaza Cup with Buweekula and Bugerere.
SC Volcanoes said his experience, ambition and understanding of Ugandan football made him the right fit for the team’s next phase. The club, formerly known as Mutolere SC Kisoro, is also seeking FUFA approval for a name change to SC Volcanoes Kisoro, a move it says would better represent Kisoro and the wider Kigezi region. Uganda Investment Authority Director General Robert Mukiza has been named patron as part of the club’s broader leadership structure.
The appointment follows a notable cup run earlier this year, when the club eliminated Wakiso Giants in the Stanbic Uganda Cup round of 64. That result suggested the young side can compete against higher-level opposition, even as it now turns attention to building a promotion-challenging squad under Sempigi.
