What the report says

Vivo Energy Uganda has redeveloped its Shell Amber Court service station in Jinja City into what it describes as a modern mobility hub, according to Nile Post. The upgrade was officially unveiled on Thursday, October 8, and is part of the company’s broader effort to modernize its Shell retail network and adapt to changing customer needs in a key commercial center in eastern Uganda.

The station now has eight fuelling points, up from four, with additional fuel storage capacity for Shell V-Power, Shell FuelSave Petrol and Shell FuelSave Diesel. Vivo Energy said the changes are intended to ease congestion, improve traffic flow and better serve motorists during busy periods. The vehicle service area was also expanded, including a dedicated space for boda boda riders.

Beyond fuel, the site now brings together several services in one location. These include restaurants operated by Java House and KFC Uganda, banking and foreign exchange services, a pharmacy, a telecommunications service centre and a larger Shell Select convenience shop. The company said the aim is to give motorists, residents and travellers access to refuelling, dining, shopping, vehicle maintenance and financial services at a single stop.

Vivo Energy executives said the investment reflects a strategy of responding to customer expectations and mobility patterns while strengthening its presence in Uganda. The company also highlighted Jinja’s role as a transport, industrial and business hub. More broadly, the redevelopment fits into a regional trend of fuel stations adding retail and service offerings, although the article does not compare this project with specific competitors.
