VisionFund Uganda Marks 30 Years of Advancing Financial Inclusion

What the report says
VisionFund Uganda has marked 30 years of supporting financial inclusion in Uganda, with celebrations held at Sheraton Kampala Hotel. According to Nile Post, the organisation says it began operations in 1996 and has spent three decades providing financial services, especially loans, to parents and guardians in vulnerable households. Its stated goal has been to help families grow small businesses, increase household income and improve opportunities for children.
The anniversary event brought together government officials, VisionFund leadership, beneficiaries and other stakeholders. It was held under the theme “30 Years of Impact and Transformation: Advancing Bold, Innovative Financial Inclusion, Building Brighter Futures for Children.” State Minister for Finance Shatsi Kuteesa Musasizi presided over the celebrations and praised the organisation’s role in community development and improving the economic well-being of Ugandans. He also signaled continued government support for work tied to the country’s development agenda.
VisionFund Uganda chief executive Mercy Sande Ainomugisha thanked the government for allowing the organisation to operate in the country for the past three decades. She said VisionFund plans to keep working with public and private partners while widening access to financial services for more vulnerable families.
The event also featured beneficiary testimonies describing how loans had helped them expand businesses, support their families and invest in their children’s futures. In broader context, microfinance providers like VisionFund often play a role in reaching people who may have limited access to traditional banking, especially in low-income communities.
