Brazil forward Vinicius Jr has agreed a new six-year contract with Real Madrid, tying him to the club until 30 June 2032, BBC Sport Football reported. The deal ends recent uncertainty around his future after he entered the final year of his previous contract and drew interest from Arsenal.

Real Madrid said on Thursday that the two sides had reached an agreement after talks had been at a standstill until the club made a revised offer this week. Vinicius, now 26, has been with Real since joining from Flamengo in 2018 and had previously described the Spanish club as his “dreams” destination, according to the report.

The extension is significant for Real because Vinicius has become a major part of their recent success. BBC Sport said he has scored 128 goals in 375 appearances in all competitions and has won two Champions League titles, three La Liga trophies and one Copa del Rey with the club. For Arsenal, the agreement means they must turn elsewhere in their search for a left-sided forward.

The new contract was announced on the same day Real also confirmed the signing of Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande from RB Leipzig, underlining a busy summer of squad changes at the Bernabeu.
