Villa's Manzambi shows Newcastle what they missed out on

What the report says
Aston Villa’s revival under Unai Emery continued with a 1-0 Premier League win over Newcastle, decided by Johan Manzambi’s header against the club he had previously declined in favour of Villa Park. BBC Sport reported that the 21-year-old Switzerland midfielder, a summer signing in a club-record deal of a little over £50m, scored his third goal for Villa and has quickly become central to the team’s recent improvement.
Manzambi had also been linked with a move to Newcastle before choosing Villa, adding extra interest to a match that highlighted both his form and Villa’s stronger momentum. Emery praised the midfielder’s quality, intelligence and physical presence, while team-mate Nicolas Jackson described him as a player with major potential. Since his first Villa start in September, Manzambi has been involved in five goals in all competitions, underlining his fast adaptation to the squad.
The result extended Villa’s unbeaten run in all competitions to five matches after a difficult start to the season, when they took only one point from their opening four league games. The club have since improved in the Premier League and also recorded a big Champions League win over Fenerbahce. The report said Villa now sit 12th in the league and remain active in Europe and the Carabao Cup, suggesting the side is finding form again after major summer changes to the squad.
