What the report says

BBC Sport reports that Aston Villa are in advanced discussions to bring Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho to Villa Park on an initial loan, with the proposed arrangement potentially including an obligation to buy. The 21-year-old Argentina international was made available by Chelsea last month for £43m, but the club is said to be willing to consider a structure that could become permanent if certain conditions are met.

The talks come shortly after Chelsea agreed a record £117m fee with Villa for Morgan Rogers, according to the report. BBC Sport says Garnacho and striker Nicolas Jackson, who is available for £65m, were then discussed in a separate possible move in the opposite direction. Garnacho recorded eight goals and four assists in 43 appearances for Chelsea last season in all competitions, but his Premier League return was limited to one goal.

If completed, the move would continue a busy summer for Villa, who have already added Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Modou Keba Cisse. The club has also generated close to £200m from player sales, with Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Enzo Barrenechea and Lewis Dobbin among those to leave, per BBC Sport.

For Chelsea, the potential exit would help reduce squad size after further attacking additions, including Rogers and Sporting winger Geovany Quenda. BBC Sport notes that Manchester United would be due 10% of any eventual transfer fee, following Garnacho’s £40m move from United to Chelsea last September.
