What the report says

BBC Sport Football reports that Aston Villa have reached an agreement to take Chelsea winger Alejandro Garnacho on loan until the end of the 2026-27 season, with a purchase obligation attached to the deal. According to BBC football reporter Nizaar Kinsella, the 22-year-old Argentina international has completed a medical in Birmingham and has already agreed the terms of a four-year contract at Villa Park if the move becomes permanent.

The clubs have not publicly disclosed the exact conditions of the obligation to buy. BBC Sport says the clause is expected to depend on achievable targets, including possible appearance-related triggers, and that Chelsea believe the structure will allow them to secure their original £43m valuation. Garnacho joined Chelsea from Manchester United last September in a £40m transfer, and BBC Sport reports United would be entitled to 10% of any eventual fee.

The proposed move comes shortly after Chelsea signed Morgan Rogers from Villa for a reported record £117m. BBC Sport frames Garnacho’s exit as part of Chelsea’s effort to reduce squad numbers after adding Rogers and Sporting winger Geovany Quenda, with Garnacho having made a limited Premier League impact at Stamford Bridge.

For Villa, Garnacho would become the club’s fourth summer signing after Johan Manzambi, Joao Gomes and Modou Keba Cisse. BBC Sport also notes that Villa have raised nearly £200m through player sales this summer, including departures involving Youri Tielemans, Donyell Malen, Enzo Barrenechea and Lewis Dobbin, underlining the financial balancing act around both clubs’ transfer business.
