What the report says

NBCSports.com’s Pro Football Talk reported that the Minnesota Vikings made two roster additions as veteran players arrived for training camp, announcing the signings of running back Jordan Mims and linebacker Jamal Adams. The team’s announcement came July 28, 2026, according to the report by Michael David Smith.

Adams, 30, was previously reported to be joining Minnesota, and the move is now official. NBC Sports noted that Adams was an elite safety earlier in his NFL career with the New York Jets, but his performance dropped after a high-profile move to the Seattle Seahawks. More recently, he shifted to linebacker with the Las Vegas Raiders and was available for every regular-season game last year, appearing on the active gameday roster for all 17 contests.

Mims entered the NFL in 2023 as an undrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills. The report said he has also spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans and San Francisco 49ers, without establishing a major role at those stops. In Minnesota, he is expected to compete for a spot in the running back group and could also be evaluated for special teams work.

The moves matter because training camp is when teams test depth options and veteran fits before final roster decisions. Based on NBC Sports’ report, Adams offers experience and a recent positional transition, while Mims gives the Vikings another backfield and special teams candidate.
