What the report says

Victoria University in Kampala is preparing to hold its 10th graduation ceremony on 19 and 20 October 2026 at Speke Resort Convention Centre in Munyonyo, according to Watchdog Uganda. The two-day event, themed “The Future Is High,” is expected to bring together about 2,500 graduands receiving certificates, diplomas, bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees.

The university says the ceremony will focus on technology, artificial intelligence and the changing needs of the job market. Corporate and Public Relations Manager Julius Bukyana said the event is intended to highlight how AI and other technological advances are affecting education and work, and how universities must prepare students with practical, adaptable skills. University leaders have also framed the graduation as a marker of a decade of ceremonies and part of a broader push toward “market-ready” graduates.

Watchdog Uganda reported that Victoria University has long emphasized experiential learning and work-integrated training, which combine classroom study with workplace placements. That approach is meant to improve employability in Uganda and beyond. The institution, a private university chartered by the National Council for Higher Education and part of the Ruparelia Group, opened in 2013.

The report said the university had not yet named a chief guest or released a detailed programme as of mid-October 2026. The 2026 ceremony follows a similar 2025 graduation that also highlighted innovation, digital learning and employability.
