What the report says

V&A Sherry was among the brands celebrating a milestone for Uganda’s pageant scene after Mitchelle Daka won the first-ever Miss Universe Uganda title at the inaugural grand finale, held Saturday at Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, according to Nile Post. Daka also received the Face of V&A award, adding to a night that organisers described as a new chapter for the local beauty competition landscape.

The event drew former beauty queens, entertainers, business leaders and pageant followers. Before the crowning, guests were offered a V&A Sherry cocktail experience featuring sangrias, sparkling drinks and premium bottle service. The brand said this reflected its “Yours to Share” message about marking special moments together. V&A Brand Manager Roy Ronald Tumwizere presented one of Daka’s awards and praised the finalists for confidence and determination.

As overall winner, Daka received Shs24 million, a Toyota Wish and other sponsor prizes, and she will represent Uganda at the Miss Universe competition. Other placements included Kimberly Jael Aremo as first runner-up, who will go to Miss Africa, and Bridget Katungi, who will compete at Miss Face of Tourism. Nile Post said several other special titles were also handed out, highlighting the broader role of the pageant in giving young women visibility and opportunities.
