Nile Post reported that Uganda is set to hold the finale of its first Miss Universe Uganda competition, with the winner becoming the country’s debut representative in the global Miss Universe pageant. The event is scheduled for Saturday, August 1, at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala, and is being supported by V&A Sherry.

According to the report, the national pageant was launched in May as Uganda’s first competition formally linked to the Miss Universe organisation. It began with 25 contestants, and 15 finalists remain in contention for the crown after several weeks of training, mentorship and personal development activities. Organisers said the programme has emphasised leadership, confidence and personal growth, as well as encouraging contestants to use their platforms for positive community impact.

V&A Sherry, through UBL brand manager Roy Ronald Tumwizere, framed its support as part of a broader commitment to initiatives that promote women’s empowerment and achievement. The brand said the competition aligns with themes of ambition, leadership and confidence among young women. The winner is expected to showcase Uganda’s culture and identity on the international Miss Universe stage.

Nile Post also reported event details for attendees: the finale is expected to start at 6pm, with a black-tie dress code. Tickets are being sold through Quicket, with regular seats priced at Shs100,000, VIP tickets at Shs150,000, and a table for eight listed at Shs3 million. The inaugural contest matters because it gives Uganda a formal entry point into one of the world’s most visible beauty pageant platforms.
