V&A Sherry backs Uganda’s first Miss Universe queen as global pageant beckons

What the report says
V&A Sherry says it is backing Mitchelle Daka, Uganda’s first Miss Universe Uganda winner, as she prepares for an international pageant appearance. The company hosted Daka at Uganda Breweries Limited’s headquarters in Luzira, Kampala, together with first runner-up Kimberly Jael Aremo and top supermodel Teopista Aromach, in a visit that also highlighted Daka’s role as the 2026 Face of V&A.
According to The Independent Uganda, Daka was crowned on Aug. 1 and is expected to be the first Ugandan to compete at the Miss Universe pageant, with the event set for Puerto Rico in November. The report says V&A Sherry had already chosen her as its brand ambassador before the pageant finale, and the new title has strengthened the partnership. Company representatives described the collaboration as part of a wider commitment to women’s empowerment.
The visit included a tour of the brewery and meetings with company leadership. V&A Sherry and Uganda Breweries said they want to continue supporting the queens as they move onto global competitions. The Miss Universe Uganda organizers also welcomed the backing, saying it supports their aim of helping women pursue opportunities and represent Uganda internationally. In broader context, the story reflects how brands increasingly tie sponsorship to pageant platforms and public-facing empowerment campaigns, while Uganda prepares for a possible debut on the Miss Universe stage.
