UPDF College Of Logistics And Engineering Passes Out Logistics Specialists

The Uganda People’s Defence Forces College of Logistics and Engineering (COLE) in Magamaga has graduated personnel who completed specialized training in logistics- and support-related fields, according to Watchdog Uganda. The courses included basic medical logistics, logistics management, battalion arms technicians, and basic finance officers’ training. The intake also included participants from allied forces such as the Rwanda Defence Force and the Central African Republic Armed Forces.

The graduation ceremony was presided over by Maj. Gen. Robert Mugabe, the UPDF Joint Staff Finance officer, who said the training reflected discipline, sacrifice and commitment to professional development. He also stressed the importance of accountability in handling military resources, saying logistics staff are responsible for items essential to operations and must account for them properly.

COLE commandant Col. Chris Kyanku said the programmes are designed to strengthen military logistics capacity for Uganda and partner forces, including personnel from Rwanda, Somalia and the Central African Republic. He said the college aims to produce professionals in areas such as supply, transport and arms technology. Lt. Col. Emmanuel Arinaitwe, representing UPDF health services, said the medical logistics skills gained would help support military medical services.

The report places the ceremony in the broader context of regional military training cooperation and anti-corruption messaging within the armed forces, with UPDF officers encouraging graduates to apply their skills in resource management and professional service.
