Ukrainian drone attacks kill 3 as fire destroys Wildberries warehouse

Separate Ukrainian drone strikes across Russia killed at least three people and set off a major fire at a Wildberries logistics centre in the Tambov region, according to Al Jazeera’s report published on 26 August 2026. The warehouse was in Kotovsk, about 500 kilometres southeast of Moscow, and local officials said the blaze spread across roughly 100,000 square metres before the site was described as completely destroyed.

Tambov Governor Yevgeny Pervyshov said one person was injured at the facility. He did not say whether the fire had been brought under control. The article also noted damage to another industrial facility in the Nizhny Novgorod region during the same wave of drone attacks.

Elsewhere in Russia, Reuters and local authorities reported additional deaths linked to drone activity: a man and a 14-year-old were killed in the Lipetsk region after a falling drone sparked a fire, and a woman was killed in the Belgorod region. Russia’s defence ministry said its air defences intercepted hundreds of Ukrainian drones overnight, including over occupied areas of Ukraine.

Al Jazeera said Ukraine has repeatedly struck Wildberries sites since mid-July and has also targeted Ozon, another major online retailer. The report said the two companies are important parts of Russia’s consumer economy, while Ukraine has accused Wildberries of supporting Russia’s military logistics. Moscow and Wildberries deny that the warehouses are used for military supply.
