What the report says

Ukraine has carried out another drone strike on a Russian Yandex data centre near Moscow, forcing the company to suspend operations at the site, according to BBC World News. The attack hit a facility in Vladimir, east of the capital, and the company said no one was injured, though some services were temporarily unavailable. BBC said this was the third time in the same week that Yandex sites were targeted.

The report said Yandex, often described as Russia’s equivalent of Google, had already been dealing with disruptions after strikes on two of its five data centres earlier in the week, in Sasovo and Kaluga. Yandex said its data centres are essential to keeping its services running and that it could not say when normal operations would fully resume.

The strike took place hours after US President Donald Trump publicly urged Ukraine to stop attacking Russian oil refineries. Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said any de-escalation would need to be mutual and backed by real guarantees, adding that Ukraine would be prepared to stop striking Russian refineries if Russia halted attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

BBC placed the episode in the wider pattern of infrastructure attacks that have intensified during the war, with both sides continuing to target economic and energy-related assets. The report also noted fresh Russian strikes inside Ukraine over the weekend, including reported casualties in the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
