What the report says

Ukraine says restrictions on its military’s Starlink and Starshield satellite links have been lifted after more than a week of disruption that had affected drone operations against Russian forces, according to Al Jazeera’s report citing Defence Minister Yevhenii Khmara. He said the services were again stable on equipment moving at high speed and credited talks with Washington and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s diplomacy. The report says it remains unclear who imposed the limits, while the issue had added tension to already strained Kyiv-Washington relations.

The development comes as the United States tries to revive peace talks over the war, now more than four years after Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022. Al Jazeera reports that negotiators from Ukraine, Russia and the US are expected to meet in Abu Dhabi in the first half of November, with Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirming the plan and Zelenskyy also referring to technical-level meetings.

Meanwhile, attacks continued across both countries. Ukrainian officials reported Russian strikes that killed and wounded civilians in Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Donetsk and other areas, while Ukraine said it hit industrial targets inside Russia, including facilities in Togliatti and Oryol. Russian authorities in occupied Crimea also reported power outages after overnight attacks. The battlefield updates underline that, despite the renewed diplomatic push, fighting remains intense and civilian damage continues.
