What the report says

Al Jazeera reports that Ukraine carried out a large overnight drone assault on Russia’s Moscow region on Tuesday, with Russian officials saying the attack killed two people and caused damage across the area. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said hundreds of drones were involved and that most were intercepted, while regional authorities said some strikes led to fires and property damage.

According to the Russian account cited by Al Jazeera, one person was killed in Radumlya and another in Barbybino. Regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov said seven people were injured and that dozens of homes, apartments and vehicles were damaged. He also said many drones were “destroyed or neutralised” over the wider region. A pro-war blogger claimed an oil storage facility in the Moscow area was hit, but Al Jazeera noted there was no official confirmation of that.

The report places the attack in the wider pattern of intensified long-range strikes by both sides as winter approaches. It also notes that Ukraine has increasingly targeted fuel infrastructure to pressure Moscow’s war financing, while Russia has stepped up attacks on Kyiv and other Ukrainian targets. Separately, Russian-installed authorities in occupied Zaporizhia said another Ukrainian drone strike killed three people in a minibus near the front line.
