Ukraine fires 400 drones toward Moscow as Zelenskyy grapples with protests - PBS

What the report says
PBS, carrying an Associated Press report, said Moscow officials reported a large Ukrainian drone attack from late Sunday into Monday, with Mayor Sergei Sobyanin saying more than 400 drones were launched toward the Russian capital. He said most were brought down at a distance and 85 were intercepted near Moscow. Regional Gov. Andrei Vorobyov reported 10 injuries and damage to homes and civilian infrastructure, while a local official said a fire broke out at an industrial park south of the city.
The reported drone barrage followed Russian missile and drone strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, part of an escalating pattern of reciprocal long-range attacks more than four years into Russia’s full-scale invasion. Ukrainian officials said Sunday’s bombardment killed at least six people and wounded dozens. Ukraine’s air force also reported a new overnight Russian attack involving two missiles and 94 drones, saying most drones were stopped or jammed, while damage occurred in nine places.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukrainian forces struck logistics sites and an oil depot in the Moscow region, and also targeted vessels linked to Russia’s sanctioned oil trade and cargo ships in the Black Sea. Russian and Ukrainian battlefield claims could not be independently verified, AP noted. Separate Russian regional officials said a drone hit a bus in Belgorod region, killing five people and injuring 23.
The strikes come as Zelenskyy faces domestic pressure after a government reshuffle involving Mykhailo Fedorov and Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi, which prompted street protests. The report also said a Russian attack on a Guinea-Bissau-flagged cargo ship after it left Odesa killed 10 crew members, according to Ukraine’s Sea Ports Authority.
