Ugandan agritech startup SANDI AI Technologies has won the 2026 GoGettaz Agripreneur Prize, receiving US$50,000, or about Shs190 million, to support its work on artificial intelligence-based tools for agricultural finance. The Independent Uganda reported that the company was named overall winner of the continental competition at the Africa Food Systems Forum 2026 Summit in Kigali, Rwanda.

Founded by Ugandan entrepreneur Sandra Nabakka, SANDI AI is building a platform designed to help connect farmers to unsecured loans by using data and AI to assess financial needs and lending potential. The company said it intends to use the prize money to strengthen its technology, widen its market reach and serve more farming communities. According to the report, the startup is focused on addressing a long-running financing gap that affects many smallholder farmers who lack conventional collateral, formal income records or credit histories.

The Independent Uganda said the prize recognizes young African entrepreneurs working in agriculture, food systems and related areas, and noted that SANDI AI was selected from a wider field of agrifood ventures across the continent. The win gives the Uganda-based startup added visibility and places it among African firms using technology to tackle financial inclusion challenges in farming. More broadly, the development reflects growing interest in using digital tools to improve access to credit and support agricultural productivity across Africa.
